What is the Panel?
The Community Panel is responsible for evaluating nominations for the MyData Awards and applications for MyData-aligned technology products and solutions. It is responsible for determining which real-world actions and activities should be recognised and celebrated as contributing to the MyData mission.
The Panel will function as a roster of 40-75 panel members on stand-by to join 3-person review teams that consider specific nominations and applications. Review teams are appointed and coordinated by the staff of MyData Global, and provided with background information and recommendations to facilitate efficient review and decision-making.
Panel review teams will also consider cases in which a MyData Award or Trust Mark might be revoked due to complaints or practices contrary to the MyData mission.
Why should I join?
Participating in the Community Review Panel makes a vital contribution to the MyData community and mission. It helps ensure that the breadth and impact of the movement is recognized, while also growing the community.
Participating in the panel also provides insights and overview of leading practice from inside and outside of the community, and panel members will have early access to analysis of the hundreds of nominations we have received for the MyData Awards.
Panel members are encouraged to add participation to their online profiles (LinkedIn, etc) and will be recognised for their contributions in MyData webpages, newsletters, social media, and awards ceremonies, both individually and collectively.
What will I have to do?
By joining the Panel, you commit to receiving invitations to specific review teams and to promptly respond to those requests with your availability and interest. We expect most panel members to join only 1 review team.
Review teams composed of three panel members will each spend 1-week in between October and December 2024 asynchronously reviewing information packets provided by MyData staff, co-ordinating by Slack, video chat or whatever works for the members of your review team.
Each Awards information packet will include summary presentations of ~20 Awards nominees (max 500-word summaries, accompanied by external links). Short meetings will be facilitated by staff on request or if review teams do not reach consensus.
Panel members with technology expertise will also be invited to join review teams for the MyData Trust Mark. In addition to a 1-week asynchronous review period, this process for this will include an online interview with applicants.
