Changes in International Public Attitudes to Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence

18 Dec at 2:00 pm 3:00 pm CET

Public attitudes toward AI are shifting fast. The new Carleton–CIGI–Ipsos survey shows widespread concern about trust, safety, fairness and control. Citizens across regions want clearer rules, stronger accountability and credible mechanisms to govern AI and personal data use.

Episode three of Digital Rules, Human Values takes place on December 18 and examines these findings.

Speakers:
 • Dr. Paul Twomey, Co-Chair, Global Initiative for Digital Empowerment; former CEO of ICANN
 • Professor Fen Hampson, Chancellor’s Professor and Professor of International Affairs, Carleton University, Canada; and co-author of the Public Attitudes on Digital Governance survey

Speakers will discuss how the survey’s results should shape governance choices and how the IDEA framework can respond to what people say they need: transparency, human agency and market structures that give individuals a meaningful role.

This series, organised by the Global Initiative for Digital Empowerment (GIDE), MyData Global, the Global Solutions Initiative (GSI), and the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), aims to foster human-centred digital governance. We bring together global experts, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss practical solutions for safer digital services and greater user agency.

This is a participatory global forum for a constructive policy dialogue.
