Digital Empowerment in Practice: From the MyData Declaration to MyTerms

Let’s rethink digital governance through human-centred market mechanisms. The IDEA framework is designed as a universal framework. Yet countries differ significantly in digital infrastructure, regulatory capacity, market structure, and levels of technological development.

Around the world, individuals generate vast amounts of personal data but rarely have the ability to benefit from it or control how it is used. The MyData Declaration calls for putting people in control by creating infrastructure, rules, and platforms that empower individuals to access, understand, manage, and share their data on their own terms.

In this webinar, the MyData community and the Global Initiative for Digital Empowerment will explore how these principles translate into practice. The session will introduce ways to participate in MyData community thematic groups and activities, and will highlight work to implement the MyTerms Standard (IEEE 7012) that enables individuals to set their terms for data sharing in online interactions.
