Personal data and AI in East Asian Countries: A comparative view through the IDEA framework
18 Feb at 9:00 pm – 10:00 pm CET

Global Seminar Series: Digital Rules, Human Values
Organised by the Global Initiative for Digital Empowerment (GIDE), in collaboration with the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), MyData Global, and the Global Solutions Initiative (GSI), the series examines how to translate principles into policy and practice.
The series brings together global leaders and practitioners exploring how digital governance can better serve human welfare. Each session focuses on practical ways to build digital systems and markets that are accountable, inclusive, and aligned with human values.
Episode Five of Digital Rules, Human Values examines how personal data markets and AI development are evolving across leading East Asian economies.
The IDEA framework is designed as a universal framework. Yet countries differ in digital infrastructure, regulatory capacity, institutional design, and levels of technological development. This session offers a comparative view of how governance approaches in East Asia are shaping data and AI ecosystems – and how the IDEA framework can support more human-centred digital economies across diverse systems.
