Thank you for a wonderful MyData Online 2022 conference.

9 Nov 2022 · Update · conference, events

MyData Online 2022 conference took place on 27 October. Great thanks to all presenters, partners, and moderators! Their collective effort and contribution were what made MyData Online 2022 a success. All in all, 62 presenters from 24 countries shared their insights on personal data development!

The conference spanned for 10 hours to suit different time zones. There were 13 thematic sessions covering various topics in business, use cases, policy and thought leadership –  and three facilitated networking sessions. The average session attendance was 66 participants.

Key statistics

Over 400 people from 56 countries registered for the conference. 52% of them were new participants who have never joined MyData’s event before. The event turnout rate is 67%. In the end, almost 300 participants attended and spent 6 hours per person on average.

Diverse perspectives are the key

The feedback survey showed the overall satisfaction of participants was 4.2 out of 5. What was valued the most was “diverse perspectives from business, legal, technology, society, and design”.  Indeed, we will continue to bring diverse perspectives into our future events, that is a key design driver. Key point for improvement was networking. It is difficult, thought not impossible, to do this well in an online environment. As connecting experts is one of our key goals, we look forward to improving on this, both in online and physical events.

92 participants attended the session of “Where is the business in the data spaces.” Esther Huyer from Capgemini Invent did a great job moderating the session along with three speakers, Richard Stevens from IDC, André Golliez from Swiss Data Alliance, and Christoph Mertens from IDSA.

The human-friendly privacy policies -session was hosted by our conference partner – Forum Virium Helsinki, who released a privacy design toolkit to help organisations inform customers how their data is used and increase trust. The toolkit was created in the smashHit project. Speakers in this session: Tarmo Toikkanen, Technical expert, Forum Virium Helsinki. Mika Leivo, Johtava Data-arkkitehti, Helsinki. Paula Bello, Senior Designer, Member of the Board, MyData Global. Eva Leppänen, SW developer, Arctic Machine (Infotripla). Jarno Ritari, Scrum Master, Senior Software Engineer, Arctic Machine (Infotripla). Arianna Rossi, Research scientist, Snt, University of Luxembourg
